Sift together: 2 cups flour, 1 Tbsp baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt.
Cut in 1/2 cup shortening until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
Beat together 1 egg and one cup milk, and add into dry ingredients.
Mix thoroughly and pour batter into a well-greased oblong baking pan.
Cover dough with peeled and pitted peach halves (3-5 peaches depending on size)
Sprinkle peaches with 2 Tbsp sugar and 1/4 tsp cinnamon.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes.
